We strive to awaken students to their unique individualities and a moral relationship with the world by developing the whole human being and its capacity for goodness, beauty, and truth.
Azure Fields Charter High School is a Waldorf-inspired school dedicated to preparing students for success in both career and life by cultivating their academic, artistic, and practical skills. With a focus on individual growth and community engagement, we work to nurture compassionate and resilient individuals. Graduates emerge ready to lead with integrity, turn their ideas into meaningful actions, and make positive contributions to the fast-changing world they inherit.
Application Approved January 23, 2025
Our Application was approved by the Utah State Charter School Board at their Board Meeting on January 23, 2025. We are in the process of writing the Charter Agreement and anticipate approval of the Charter Agreement by the end of May 2025.
We want to start a Waldorf high school in Utah because we believe that the core principles of Waldorf education (whole child education, developing skills for a practical life, living within a rhythm, and stewardship over nature) are things which resonate with Utah families. We also believe that now is the time to start the journey of a Waldorf high school because the families in the two Utah K-8 Waldorf schools are searching for a high school which meets their educational goals.
Our whole human approach to education nurtures all parts of the developing person including the head (intellect and ideas), heart (feeling a deep connection to one’s self as well as their surrounding community and world), and hands (skills and working forces to accomplish the work of developing a better humanity for the future). This approach prepares our students for a smooth transition of continuing education, career pursuits, and lifelong service.
2023: The Beginnings
Early in 2023 we organized a Founding Advisory Committee to brainstorm what our school might eventually become. We discussed locations, names, building options, curriculum and extracurricular offerings, and researched the process to become authorized by the Utah State Charter Board (USCSB). Our little think tank was a critical beginning in this process to spark the vision and give hope to developing the first Waldorf-Inspired High School in Utah.
2024: Official Steps
After a year of dreaming and brainstorming, it was time to take the first critical step of Incorporating our Non-Profit and Organizing a Founding Board of Directors. We met at the Provo City Library on May 1, 2024 for a Town Hall Meeting where we organized our Founding Board and ratified our Articles of Incorporation. We were approved as a Utah Non-Profit on May 28. This Founding Board worked hard all summer to prepare our initial Proposal, which the USCSB accepted on August 8, 2024 and requested that we fill out the full Application.
2025: Azure Fields Charter High School is Approved
On January 16, 2025 we again met with the State Charter School Board to present our full Application and request Authorization. The School Board approved and we began the process to draft our Charter Agreement and enter our Pre-Operational Year with a projected school opening date of Fall 2026.
Our Many Thanks
We are humbly grateful for everyone who has contributed to this process of starting the First Waldorf-Inspired High School in Utah. Many have offered ideas, support, and many hours of paperwork and research to bring us to our Pre-Operational phase. We also could not have made it this far without the support of the wonderful Waldorf Community, both in Utah and around the world.
